Good ol’ fashioned Rock

Over the weekend I’ve discovered a new band that is catering to my recent change in musical tastes – Left Lane Cruiser. It’s got some good ol’ fashioned southern/bluesy/raw rock. Kind of reminds me of Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, The Black Keys, and earlier Kings of Leon. Even some of the riffs and vocals sound a little like Clutch.

Left Lane Cruiser is making a regular appearance on my playlists. Check them out.

What is that incessant noise?

Been trying out a few new albums and mixing them all up into one big mishmash playlist. Several different artists, several distant styles, pretty variegated list. Much more mellow than my past tastes, but maybe that’s just because I’ve gotten older. I’d have to say one of my favorite albums from this list, and one of the top Artists played in my iTunes overall is The Black Keys. Depending on the upcoming months’ plans, I would really like to see them when they come to Oakland.

My nerves will be the death of me

One of my latest paintings. I’ve actually gotten back into this hobby. Practice, practice, practice!

By the way, the photos in the header and the background are from my hike in Bodega Bay. Great view, but very very cold.

There’s an app for that

Wow, another reason WordPress is better than movable type. Not that I would ever need it, but there is WordPress mobile for the iPhone. Now I can publish my pointless ramblings from anywhere! That is technological efficiency at its best.

Dr. Benjamin Linus

We’ve welcomed a new member to our family. A very ornery, hyper, and stinky little member to the family. Benny – short for Dr. Benjamin Linus (my favorite character from Lost, and conveniently the name the breeder had already been calling him).

It’s taking a little bit to adjust to having a puppy in the house. We’ve had to constantly puppy-proof everything because he is very nosy and adventurous, but we’ve quickly grown attached to the little guy. He’s very stubborn and will take some time to train, but he’s full of character.
